Endings & Beginnings

Wed May 13, 2009, 6:37 PM
J O U R N A L a la E M I R I

I'm very close to summer time. I have a few things to finish up. I'll be working a lot of hours and I'll have summer classes, but my work load will be much lighter. I'm looking forward to progressing my portfolio and creating some personal work.

I'm looking into transfer schools and internships right now. We'll see where I go after I get my associates. Right now I really don't know :].

Draw what you see, not what you think you see. I draw what I think I see, therefore I'm a Cartoonist.
saw your response, replied, checked out your page, agree wholeheartedly about a certain company and their indoctrination of the message "our stuff is expensive, but if you buy it you'll be cooler."

from one Chicagoan to another, i wish you well... keep fighting the good fight ;)

:) for sure.

i recently encountered a lot of the same feelings about art schools! it's very similar to the mac vs pc situation.

i was on conceptart and most people immediately discredited community colleges / colleges / universities art programs. while some don't have good programs, some have fantastic programs-- same for art schools.

kids, i tell you. kids.
elitism is so sad. there's a huge difference between recognizing quality and then promoting it with your own voice, versus parroting what everyone is saying and jumping on the bandwagon that the "cool" kids are riding in.

i think people are too afraid to admit "oops, maybe there was a better choice i could have made, but i must defend my school/brand of choice lest i look like a dumbass".

if anything, they remind me there's more than one way to skin a cat, and only a fool wouldn't consider the infinite choices (pros/cons) and then make an informed choice.

anywho, i agree with a lot of what you're saying. great minds think alike... or so i'd like to think :)
